Hi all, I'm wanting to start getting into cycling but don't really know where to start with buying a bike.
Mostly will be used for road rides, for fitness but I don't really see myself doing super long rides just yet. I'm pretty tall 5'10" so I'm not too sure if a women's bike would be a good fit or if I would be better off on a men's. Any recommendations on specific bikes or brands to take a look at would be appreciated!

Thanks :)

"Just for fitness"

"Maybe commute a bit"

and then I have to dodge, you fine lot, in the cycle path, whilst you go all over it with 5km/h, with your shinny new gear...

Not to mention the babies on their mtb's...

Anyway:

If you use the bike on the road you will eventually end up with a road bike.

A cyclocross bike (non racing grade) it's good for commuting.

It all depends, you want an Alu, Cro-mo (more expensive, lasts more under normal use), Carbon (even more expensive, lasts but apparently fails catastrophically without notice), Titanium???

It is best to buy the bike from a professional store. I definitely think there can be nothing better than seeking a professionals advice.
