I'm interested getting involved with CX but have several questions about equipment:
1. How are CX bikes carried with bikes that use "compact framesets"?
2. I've seen bikes set up with either two chainrings in front or one chainring in front. I suppose funning chain lines are set up using only one chainring and also suppose something like a 12-27 gearing is used in the rear. For most cx courses, can the single front chainring (42) be used? Is this gearing typically satisfactory?
3. For the single front chainring setup, does shimano sell single right index shifter? or do they only come in pairs?
4. Is the Giant TCX frameset a first decent cx frameset? At $650 it doesn't seem too expensive.
