Thanks for the reply...I took it in locally and it's going to cost me $50. I checked around and
that's about average. This is for a complete tune-up. I am mildly annoyed that it's going to take
all weekend, as it doesn't seem to have very many problems. But, Oh well. I will run instead. I did
find some resources and will try and do maintenance to gain some knowledge. But this solution fixes
the bike quicker anad doesn't cause me as much frustration.
Thanks again

I have a Trek 800 that I would like to perform regular maintenence on. I

you can probably tell by reading this, I don't really know anything about bikes. Is there a
resource online or a manual I can

There is online help on bicycle maintenance, but somehow I get the feeling from your message that
you may need more than just something to read. Without any basic mechanical knowledge to start
from, perhaps it would be better if you signed up for some cycle maintenance classes or at least
tried

Indeed, given that it seems likely the bike has been out of use for some time, it may need more
doing to it than just
fixing
Quoted message said:stuck gears and it may be advisable to get them to do a full service to
get

to be smaller jobs and will help you to gain knowledge and confidence gradually.
