Unless the gasoline additives come out of solution or decompose, there's no such thing as
stale gas. Since you've decided to bring it up: how quickly does gas go "stale"? What if it's
diesel? Or LNG/propane??

Gasoline additives are not limited to fuel stabilizer. If you need some help on the subject,

Doing your homework for you, i find octane enhancers, volatility controllers, oxygenates, and
surfactants to be the big fuel additives besides stabilizers. Nothing i didn't know already, sorry.
Do yo know what fuel stabilizer does? Of course not. It largely refers to inhibitting olefin
catalysis, basically preventing ... gunk. The catalysis is temperature related - warmer = faster. It
can also refer to moisture control, which aggrevating factors are strongly correlated with circadian
thermal cycling, relative humidity, dewpoint and gas cap integrity.
Now, for some reason _you_ brought up "stale gas". I specifically asked you: how long does that
take. You don't know, do you??
Well, there's no specific answer, like "983 hours," but the general consensus i found to be
somewhere around 3 months, less under high ambient temperature conditions.
In the context of this discussion -- a car driven ~4/30 days, which is roughly once/week (actually
twice every other week) , and as i amplified in anther post, roughly a tank every 2~3 weeks, it's
clear that stale fuel is irrelevant to the issue. From other posters it's clear that it's irrelevant
to most cyclecommuters.
I also asked you about diesel. That was a gimme! Poorly amended diesel fuel, if contaminated with
moisture, can suffer from "sick diesel" syndrome, a condition where microbes actually grow in the
bottom of the tank. Very annoying when the bacterial mat shakes loose and gets stuck in the fuel
line or filter.

Actually, the USEPA is leaning v.v.heavily towards imposing emissions controlling technology on new
lawnmowers. I don't keep up on the issue, but i _think_ they're already doing it.
Of course, being a real man, with massive ripply quadraceps from cyclecommuting, i prefer to use the
classic human powered reel mower, both for excercise and its superior cut. The quiet tickticktick of
the blades is much more soothing than a briggs and stratton one-lunger.
