No left or right on road bike toe clips?

Greetings, new to this site, need some help. I own a trek 1.5 and just started riding(again!) I wanted to reverse my road toe clips because my feet want to point out, not in. I know this is not ideal, but I want as little stress and pain as possible while still trying to go somewhat fast. However there appears to be no right or left on current road toe clips like there are on mtb toe clips. Or are there brands of road toe clips that would have a right and left? I don't really like the way mtb clips hold my feet so that isn't really an option for me. Or would going to clipless pedals like I had back in the day allow me enough float to keep stress off my knees, esp. my left one. Any help or info would be appreciated.

The new nylon clips are for the left an right foot, but there's no rule that says you cant reverse them. But first try simply loosing the mounting screws and sliding them to the outside of your pedals to accommodate a more toes-out posture.

Re-tighten before riding, of course.
