No name carbon frames



i just got a quote from Porter, he told me the road frame will cos US$425, Carbon Fork US$80 (535grams....seems very heavy for carbon steerer?) Carbon Seat Post US$29 and Shipping US$105.

this seems much more than what others have paid. i questioned it and im waiting for the response. In regards to the fork has anyone baught this fork if so does 535 grams sound heavy to you?

Finaly....what is the ride like, ive only ever ridden a full alloy bike. i want to choose between the pedal force carbon the the xian Ti and would like some feed back

That's only around $900 aussie delivered for a full carbon frame
and fork. Sounds pretty cheap to me.

For a full carbon fork.. yes. From my well damaged memory I'm
dragging out figures around the 350 gram mark for most carbon
forks. Hence the expressions "you get what you pay for" and "light, cheap, strong - pick any two".

Have you tried any local bikes - off the shelf or otherwise - just to
give you some idea of what you want? You might test ride a
certain bike and find it to be perfect - then you can either buy it or
get the builder to copy it.
