No tire clearance; just realized...

Thanks once again for comments;

I've just realized I've got a Nishiki Altron NFS sitting in a dark corner of
the garage. That bike has 26" (not 650c or B), Mavic road rims on Shimano
600 hubs. Since I should use a normal 700c fork, which I've got , & I've
got lots of old brakesets, I can experiment with this Euro idea on the ti
frame.

I also have a large downtube bmx 'Snafu' decal which will christen the bike
in a most appropriate way.

A Richard Cunningham-designed Nishiki NFS "triathlon" bike? It's got
650C (aka 26" road) wheels on it, I bet, unless it's a really small
frame, in which case it might have 24" wheels. My memory's kind of
fuzzy about these bikes.

The 650C wheels are about 13mm smaller in diameter than the 650B wheels
you were contemplating earlier. Also, the tire selection for 650C
wheels tends to be on the skinny side of the equation. 650B tires are
fat and phatter.

A possible source for very-long-reach brake calipers:

the calipers right now.
