I wonder what OLN's take is on this. Maybe the sponsors aren't willing to pay enough for the commercials on the Vuelta. Maybe the viewership is typically rather low for this event. I know it isn't nearly as popular as the Tour de France.

granted I don't know much about the television business- but if a network quadrupled it's daily audience with an event like OLN did with the TdF...and would like to keep that kind of audience coming back again and again (and let's face it, they've got a captive audience in the US of people who enjoy cycling coverage)....

then I thought they would solidify their gains by having at least daily coverage of the Vuelta, if not also a nightly recap. Bill it as the race for all of those who were supposed to challenge Armstrong in France.

Or, don't advertise it at all. Broadcast it at 3:00 a.m. daily for 3 weeks. Just bloody well please give it at least the amount of coverage that the Giro got.
