Southern Wisconsin. I really think the GT and the Schwinn are almost the same bike. That sounds like a very good price. I would buy the GT.

After a round of research, I'm down to three:

Fuji Absolute 1.3: http://www.performan...=&top_category=
Trek 7.3 FX: http://www.trekbikes...ness/fx/7_3_fx/
Daimondback Insight Disc: http://www.diamondba...id-insight-disc

I read a couple of reviews where the GT was on the heavy side. I think that might be the case for the Diamondback as well, but there are hardly any reviews of it. I have not had an opportunity to ride it yet.

Anyone have any experience or insight into either of these three?

I like the feel of the Trex a bit more than the Fuji, but there are some really great deals on the Fuji right now, and I'm told it has better parts (or maybe they're just road bike parts vs MTB parts?). And the fuji has some awesome reviews. Thoughts?

Thanks.

LOL... Didn't see your reply until after I posted again.

I'll give it another ride.

My terrain around here is pretty hilly like So. Wisconsin. What's your current ride?

I just bought the Schwinn Super Sport 1 two weeks ago from a local Schwinn dealer. I really like it. I have the carbon front fork. I stayed away from the disc brakes so it would be simpler to work on in the future. Also I figured it would be less weight and also less weight without front suspension. Where are you located?

What is the price range for that?

It's list is $650 but he said $600. I traded a gun for partial payment so it's hard to put a real $ figure on it. I like buying it from a local shop since he is familiar with them- he went to Schwinn Bicycle school in 1969( pretty cool I think).

I'm in a semi rural part of North / Central California (near Sacramento).

If I ride north, it's nothing but hills. If I ride south it's nothing but flat. There's tons of paved trails around here, but there's also a lot of gravel (and paved) trails by our two rivers.
