Guys, are we not in danger of having too many different sub categories in these forums? I can't see a power training category getting all that many postings (probably only 2 or 3 people with the capability to measure it on this site). It means that the more common categories are being pushed to the bottom of the page and beyond, means the site has a feel of being less active....

Just my two cents worth... (and as we all know SA cents are still worth bugger all... 9.1375 to the USD as I speak)
How about 'ranking' the topics according to number of postings?

That way the popular ones stay at the top and the 'specialist' ones that aren't surfed often are out of the way?

The idea is to have sub-forums, but i cant seem to get them to work properly

Surely the only time one would need sub-forums is once you start getting too many posts on a major one and it becomes hard to keep track of them. Then it would be an idea to split it?

Not that I mind much either way, I just read everything (bit of a forum ****, I don't car what people write, I read it)

My AUD$0.02...

I agree with Rhodent. I like this site, but it's a bit of a nuisance going into so many forums to see what's changed. I mostly use the Recent Posts, but since I'm an intermittent lurker that doesn't work wonderfully either. (Unless we could page back through recent posts semi-indefinitely, hint, hint? ;D)

I'm a member of several other BBs, and my favourite (motorsport-related ;D) only has about as many forums as there are categories (e.g. General, Tech Corner, Racing, etc.) here. In each forum, threads are ranked (ordered, actually) by the most recent post, with optional stickies of course. That works pretty well as discussions tend to evolve, and there's rarely any confusion about which forum a topic should be posted to. However, that site has been established for quite a few years and has many more members, so it doesn't need to provide inspiration about the sort of things you're allowed to discuss, as the many forums and descriptions on the front page of this site provide (I think that's a positive aspect of the current structure, btw).
How about 'ranking' the topics according to number of postings?

That way the popular ones stay at the top and the 'specialist' ones that aren't surfed often are out of the way?
If they were only ranked on number of postings I imagine it would be a bit inconvenient, because new topics would go straight to the end, and if/when people found them and started replying they'd end up mixed in with not-too-popular topics of all vintages.)

Posts within are displayed newest to oldest (unless a topic is sticky), the sections are grouped by topic.

Is there a way to increase the number of posts in the "View most recent posts" list? Maybe to 20 or even 30?

I wonder how many other people get changes made to their forums while they are discussing the best course to follow... Go Steve

Great improvement increasing the number of "latest postings" to 30. Saves a lot of time. Thanks.
