Numerous flats... ready to give up!!

Just wanted to followup on this... I bought the new Bontrager tire (not the comfort, I went with a bit more tread) and some new tubes, and have now ridden over 200 miles without a flat. I'm back to loving my bike. Thanks to all who posted for helping to bring me back on board!

I had two stem flats a few weeks ago - both in the same day - one on each wheel...

Close inspection of the wheels revealed that the rim tape was receding from its place around the stem holes, exposing the sharp edges of the holes to the tubes. I ended up getting one of those small Dremel grindstones for a few bucks at Wally World, attaching it to my cordless drill and using it to take the sharp edges out of the stem holes, then retaped the rim with cloth tape.
