My final weigh in for the NYNY challenge is 200.8! Thats about 7lb up on my previous weigh in. I
have pigged a bit (OK a lot) over christmas, mainly due to all the yummy edible stuff so kindly
given to me by the children at the pre-school I work at, along with the christmas cake and then my
son's birthday cake! There has been so much unhealthy stuff around and I have done a very poor job
of resisting it. There is loads left and I am feeding it as quickly as possible to the kids (who are
utter pigs and skinny as you like) to get it out of the house.

Sorry about the gain Jane. You're not alone though and I'm sure we'll both get the weight off again
nice and quickly :)

Sorry about the gain. It will be nice when the holidays will be over and we can all get back to
normal eating. Happy New year.

sorry you gained but think how bad it could have been, one of my friends had
a lot of food gifts one year, she found a nursing home and just dropped it
off on her way home, good luck this year, Lee

Resisting all the good stuff during the holidays is very hard, especially when it's received as a
gift. Good thing you have help at home getting rid of it. My mother gave me what she couldn't afford
to have in her house, and I, in turn, gave to my kids what I couldn't afford to have in my house.
What my kids didn't eat on the road trip home, they threw in the trash.

Thanks Erin,

I'm hopeful that the pounds will drop off as fast as they went on, I usually find that after a big
gain I can usually lose it all and a bit more pretty quickly.

Happy New Year to you too,

Today I have re-committed to losing this weight - I never lost my commitment - I just put it aside
for christmas ;)

I'm back to my old WOE today - even though there is plenty of christmas cake and birthday cake still
hanging around - I'm just going to have to resist it now.

That's a good idea, donating all the food gifts, I don't think my own children would have been too
happy though, at least I have them to eat all the stuff for me.

Thanks Kristin,

I decided before christmas that I wouldn;t stress over food until new year - and now I'm right back
on track and heading on downwards.

Well, we're not so open as I make it sound. My mother suffers hurt feelings when I reject food so I
take it home to spare us both unnecessary anguish. On my way into the house from the car, I deposit
it in the trash if it's something I can't/don't want to have. I spare my mother the details and just
tell her the food was delicious and her thoughtfulness greatly appreciated.

Somewhere along the way I managed not to pass onto my kids the Depression-era attitudes about food
that my parents held. So when they tell me they don't want something, I'm fine with that. When they
tell me they tossed the leftover cookies and fudge that they decided to take with them, I'm fine
with that too. And when they tell me that the Swedish pea soup survived the 2-day car trip in the
cooler and what a nice pleasure to be able to sit down to Mom's home cooking after they finished
unpacking the car, I know they're sincere.

Hmm, well, after investing hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars in therapym, I finally learned
that I can't change my mother. But I can change how I respond. We're all much better off. I've tried
hard not to repeat her mistakes with my own kids. So instead, I'm practicing a whole new set of
flaws on them. <G>

LOL! I could have taught you those same things for much cheaper. <G> In my moms better days she was
obsessed with the weight of my nephew, to the point it was the only thing she would talk about and
drove me nuts. I kept telling her that it was useless to give so much time and attention to
something she had absolutely no control over. I take the attitude that if I can't personally change
something, then I will not get upset or obsessed about it. So far, it works for me. <G>

Funny, I do the same thing with my own kids - try hard to not repeat the same mistakes I feel I was
raised with. When they complain, I tell them they are guinea pigs ... parenting is totally
experimental. When they have their own kids, they can get even. <g>
