Got a good deal on a KHS Reynolds 853 steel frame recently and are now trying to chase down the right components! (http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/02KHS/images/Flite800lg.jpg) Have spent ridicules amount of time trying to find a light 27,0 mm seatpost made of Carbon or Titanium to loose some of the road-buzz. Seem to be very hard finding one of the right dimension. My local LBS has a Easton CT-2 at a reduced price but is has received very mixed reviews: http://www.roadbikereview.com/Seatposts/Easton/PRD_28032_2510crx.aspx Worth a try?
Have also found a USE Alien carbonfiber seatpost on the web that might fit. But I remember braking the clamp on the old version twice many years ago in desperate attempts to make the flexi titanium seatrails stay in place and not creak. Is the "new" Alien clamp any better?
Would the welded type of clamp on this KHS-frame be compatible with mounting a seatpost made of carbonfiber? Have heard that some can cause the post to crack! Would prefer a Ti-seatpost but can not find any one that sell a version with the right dimension! Any suggestions?

You are really just throwing money down a rathole here.Run a few less psi in the tires and spend the money on beer or something else that has some real value.AFWIW, Ti will do less than CF in 'reducing any buzz', so your net gain would be 0. Buy it for the weight saving,bling or poseur' points, but not for 'buzz reduction'. Best 'buzz reducer' is less beer.
