Oh well, time to pack up the summer clothing, and charge my lights.

The oak tree outside my window has decided, "right, that's it, Summer's
over". It's going brown very quickly. :(

It could just be saying "Bugger it, no water again - I'll give up on
this year and hope it rains a bit more next year". Several of our trees
have done the same.

I came out of a tutorial at 8.45 this evening and was astonished to
find it had gone dark. Didn't have my lights with me, the thought of
needing them hadn't even occurred when I left the house at 6.30.
Summer's definitely coming to an end.

Yep. Autumn is upon us.

I can say that definitively when I collect the first decent lot of
blackberries. This year it came exceptionally early - before the
end of August.

Not so sure about the end of the season. The blackberries end
in November, but we don't really have winter here in the southwest,
except possibly the odd week in February.

The first decent crop here was a good week later than last year:
we were freezing the excess in August last year, but didn't get
a pieful until this month. It's been far too dry.

Eny fule kno the blackberries end at Michaelmas.

It has been an odd year. The blackberries were only in season this last
week, My runner beans were well behind, as were the strawberries.
Pumpkins are doing well, I'll need to harvest soon before it gets too
cold. And teh cabbage is fine.. Tomatoes are late, peppers and
aubergines nonexistent.
Redcurrants and goosberries were good as is the sweetcorn.

My garden, in my rented home, has been concreted over. Can I come and
live with you?
