Ok girls - just how many of us are there here?

Hey- I live on Long Island in New York and cycling is a hobby. I also ride horses (english/Hunt Seat) and my family shows dogs in Agility, Rally, Obedience, and has a long history of showing in the breed ring (Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs). I also am known to like photography.

I am 29 and took up cycling last year when my job and life were in quite a bit of turmoil. Cycling was a great way to expend some of that extra energy! I've been using a mountain bike and just got my first road bike.

On Long Island I am lucky enough to get varying trail options- I can have either flat or hilly depending on whether I visit the north or south end of the island. The only problem is that where I live is so crowded traffic and pedestrians can be a bit of a problem. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/biggrin.gif

I have a history of heart issues (the answer to which is cardiovascular exercise and hydration, hehe) and many orthopedic injuries from various accidents. Luckily none of it interferes with cycling.

Hello! New to the site and relatively new to cycling, just getting out as much as I can when the weather is nice (not much in the UK!). Needless to say experiencing all the newby aspects of cycling, I.e saddle sores, discomfort etc but still loving it! First charity cycle ride 80miles/128km coming up, hoping to just survive! Rachel

I was a girl, I appear here, I also like to ride a bike, I think that the bicycle is the most environmentally friendly transport.

Hi everyone!
I live in England (near Cambridge), I'm 43, a medium/long distance runner and a former pro swimmer. I love bikes and cycling and I guess that makes me a very good candidate for a Triathlon (and indeed it is included in my future plans). At the moment I'm riding a MTB (his name is Sigmud), but recently converted to road cycling, after an amazing riding holidays in Majorca this summer. So at the moment I'm searching for my first road bike and being in a very tight budget it makes things a bit harder. I could ofcourse sell my MTB (Specialized Myka) and sponsor my new RB, but I'm not completely out of love with off road cycling and it will break my heart to see Sigmud go.. So, yeah, currently flirting with a Specialized Dolce, a Felt z95, a Merida Ride Juliet and a few more and will have to make a decision soon if I want to spend a bit of time with it before the winter.. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/frown.gif

Hi Girls,

I'm new here. Love to ride my bike. I find myself biking often with the guys because they tend to push it harder. Ride with stronger cyclists to get stronger & all that. Have been riding for four years. I have a bad habit of taking the winters off so really only serious about 5 months of the year. The rest of the year I've been an active gamer and unfortunately taken a holiday from exercise. Gonna try to change that this year. By the way GW2 is a pretty good game if you haven't tried it yet.

I live in Canada. I'm a time trialer and tourist club level rider. Occasionally toy with the idea of racing.

Heya Girls,

I'm Lynette, 22 and an northern irish immigrant living in Christchurch NZ.

I currently cycle everywhere on my scwhinn cream 2012 edition bike (having sold my old bike to move :() which is beautiful. My husband has a scott addict which he loves and I am currently considering buying a specialised dolce sport 2013 model:)

Hey everyone!! I'm Becca. I never really biked very much growing up, but I lived in the Netherlands for 18 months from when I was 20-22. It was seriously the best time of my life. I love the culture, especially the aspect that everyone bikes EVERYWHERE!!!! It is super healthy, but I've loved the chance I had to observe what was going on around me. Looking at the nature, smelling the flowers, simply enjoying life was what I loved. Since I've moved back to the States, I've bought a bike and it is so wonderful. True, I don't get to use it quite as often, but it's wonderful! I'm here to try and get another's opinion about everything and to help others in any way I can!

*raises hand up*
Lol, I'm a teen girl and I'm a member of this forum.
I think that there's a lot of cycling girls, women out there in this community also.
:)

Sorry to enter the girls thread haha, but I need to say that I've been seeing more women cycling lately. It's still mainly a men's sport, but I am glad to see more and more women doing it, why not right? ;)

I am a new member here. I got my bike sometime but I started riding only recently. I do enjoy riding in the morning. U think it makes my day.

I'm to here, but you can add me to the list. I am 38 yrs old. I am starting to bike after a very long time because I need to get into shape. I have set my long term goal as completing a triathlon. It's very doubtful I will complete that goal, but it gives me something to work towards.

Hello,

I am a fifty year old recreational bike rider. I split my time between Michigan, Virginia, and Florida. I am a flower farmer's daughter, meaning I spend summer's out in the field at my parents flower farm. I volunteer my time working with autistic children and practicing my sign language skills. Both of my in-laws were hard of hearing. My daughter is the more serious cyclist in the family. I joined this forum to learn more on the subject, as a way to connect more with my daughter. Nice to "meet" everyone!

Nwebie here, twenty two years old and my bike is my big everlasting love. I've been riding a bike as far as I remember myself, and if everything goes well in life I'll be riding till I get really really old! Glad to be here!
