I'm in a bit of trouble with my bike: it has an older frame (comfort bike), but I'm very fond of the thing, it is remarkably "speedy" and comfortable. The last couple of years though, no bicycle repair-man has been able to help me with the always recurrent transmission problems. Me having no knowlegde of these matters hasn't helped off course...
The problem was that, after a (funny enough diagnostic) period of three weeks (approx. 600 km) time, the outer 14-teeth sprocket was bent. Then I got a somewhat satisfactory solution, which I can analyse to some extent, because I have done some internet reading on the matter (and since, I know that at least once before, a shimano 5 spd freewheel was installed): It appears that a Regina 5 spd freewheel has been screwed on the hub. This got me 6000 km of troublefree riding! However the chain wore out etc etc, and now the freewheel has broken down.
My question is: does anyone have some suggestions upon what I could do?
I'm a student, so for the time being, buying a new bike is out of the question, and frankly, it would be hard to part from my old one. The repair- man that has helped me last time has moved to another country..
Can anyone figure out what could have caused the very rapid bending of the outer sprocket before?
