I speak English (well, a Scottish variation) does that make me fast Bro?
Er, no. :D

Menchov came 20th, Bruseghin 22nd, and Kirchen 23rd. Slightly surprised they didn't do better. Maybe the heat got to them. The riders looked pretty hot and spent. Larson just fell off his bike.

Cancellara did well to medal in both races.

CSC Saxo go gold, silver in the ITT. They're having a good year.

A high proportion of the world record breakers in the pool are also English speaking. I think you're onto something. It must be an aerodynamic and fluid dynamic language.

This is strange. The men's ITT is now on MSNBC. Why did they not broadcast live. It looks like they are behind by about an hour.

I flipped it on just in time to hear Sherwin mention Armstrong. No shitting. Evidently Contador has the same elbow position as Armstrong. Hummer then went on to mention Bruyneel.

Maybe it's because they buy their doping products online and English is the language of the web?

You know they have a drinking game in Australia where everyone has to down a whole drink every time Liggett or Sherwen mention "Lance Armstrong"

It should be two drinks if it's phrased as "a certain rider named Lance Armstrong."

That actually makes sense. Cause you couldn't exactly ask for someone to help you with translation.

I guess I should have expected this. Evans always comes in second. It should have been obvious he would just miss out on the medals.
He came second out of those who missed out on medals...

Still... it was a good achievement. GT time trials and these events where everyone is fresh and giving 100% are different obviously. He's always been a solid TT'er... but only a few years ago... he was someone I think that was considered as a top ten candidate in TdF ITT, not a potential winning threat.

BTW - I didn't intend this to reopen the Cadel wound...

Emma Pooley of Great Britain leads the womens ITT by almost 2 minutes. She has a time of 35:16 with Boyarskaya in second I think at 37:14. Britain's gold medallist in the RR, Nicole Cooke, is yet to ride I believe.

Looks like Britain could get another gold.

Thurig (SUI) is now second at 35:51... with Zabirova (KAZ) third so far at 36:29.

Zabirova now replaced by Arndt in third place with a time of 35:59

The 49 year old Longo (FRA) is now third with 35:52. Maybe Longo could hold off for a medal?

Nicole Cooke goes through in 16th place at the approximate two-thirds check point. She looks tired... probably from Sunday's big effort.

Kristen Armstrong (USA) moves into first place with a time of 34:51.72.

Cooke comes in at 13th place at this stage with a time of 37:14.

Looks like that is going to be the medals. The reigning World Champ Kupfernagel is "laying an egg" on the course atm... and won't place. She comes in 11th and is really disappointed.

Gold: Kristen Armstrong (USA) 34:51.72
Silver: Emma Pooley (GBR) 35:16
Bronze: Karin Thurig (SUI) 35:51

49 year old Longo just misses out on a medal by about a second.
Interesting handlebar set up for Emma Pooley. She had aero bars set up to mimic riding on the hoods - her favoured position for climbing. The British team leaves nothing to chance. Nicole Cooke wore a skinsuit for the road race in an attempt to gain a few seconds and she did alright too.

What next, higher revs? Training through the winter? EPO? :D

We had Liggett and Mike Turtur commentating in Australia. Turtur reckons Leipheimers TT position is 'arguably illegal'. :D

Boardman was mentioning this on BBC. They called it "Project Pooley". They studied the course a year ago and built the bike & position to match the uphill sections

Good lord, people might die playing a game like that.

Normal list of dopers taking the top spots as usual. Quite impressed by Steve Cummings performance in 11th, if all the gear heads get busted he'll get a medal.

Actually, I'd have to say that Cadel's effort was incredibly impressive considering he apparently has a torn ACL (or a "break" in the ACL as it was phrased in this Velonews article). article also says he likely won't be able to ride at worlds, and the Vuelta doesn't seem to be on his schedule (contrary to the Vuelta organizers announcing the other day that Evans would be riding)...
