Just ordered my first new, current model bike since 1994 (my
Rockhopper Comp FS.)
It's a Raleigh - and it's (you guessed it!) RED!
I'm already gathering parts to customize it. An XT front
derailleur. Some Avid V-brakes. A different stem.
I guess I'll soon have to change my site again. It's
replacing a bike that has given me a couple intractable
problems (headset issues, brake computability issues.) Down
the road I may put a shock on it.
Yep, it's rigid. It's replacing the only rigid bike in my
stable (despite the fact the picture on the site shows a
Girvin Flexstem - it didn't work right and I took it off) I
don't know if it needs a shock but I may look into it. As
long as it will accept the front fender.
Did I say fender. Yep, it's got fenders. It comes with
fenders. Then again, my old bike has fenders too, of the
added later variety.
Looking at my list, I realize that it's replacing the second
oldest bike in my fleet (the 84 Schwinn High Sierra beats it
by 6 years)
In case you're wondering, no, I haven't been bitten by the
rigid bug. I still like my hardtails and my one full susser.
It's a cruiser - a beach crusier. I ordered a Raleigh
Retroglide 7. I've already planned out how to install the 21
speed XT drivetrain currently on my Coca-Cola cruiser on it.
I think I'll have to respace and redish the rear wheel (it's
got road bike spacing with ground down axles to work with
the thin stamped dropouts.)
I can't wait!
