What good would it do a time-trial/stage race specialist to take phentermine?

Why would a doctor prescribe this to an elite athlete that is clearly not obese?

Any legitimate performance enhancing aspect of this stuff?

It helps anorexics fend off Big Mac attacks. Until O'Neil started on the junk he was up to three Big Macs a day. His doctor had to prescribe the drug to prevent an early death from heart attack. It happens all the time.

As for legitimate uses, I don't know. This is one of those things that you wonder why there should be any use allowed at all--no matter what some quack doc says.
