  1. Do onions have an effect (taste/smell) on apples if left in a
    refrigerator together? Do any other veggies have any effect on
    apples?

    Put onion and apples in separate bins.
    I separate vegetables and fruits.

  3. I don't refrigerate yellow or white onions at all; the few times I've
    done it, they went mushy very quickly. I keep onions in a hanging
    string bag on the back of the pantry-closet door for up to 4-5 days.
