Well this is an interesting thread - both the DH and I have a sib who
we refer to as "the Alien," as neither one of us cottons to 'em.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the personalities here on this
newsgroup. I also have a sister that "not get along with" doesn't
begin to describe our relationship.

Altho, on second thought, 4 out of how many hundreds or thousands self
selecting doesn't really indicate much except that there are 4 of us
who felt inclined to respond.

Who is trying to claim a monopoly on having a dysfunctional family. I have
three brothers. I would need one of those whom to whom matrices to show
how we interact. I will label us alphabetically by age as A B C and D

A gets along only with C
C is not crazy about A but will tolerate him.
C gets along very well with B.
B gets along well with C and D but has nothing to do with A
C gets along well with B but has nothing to do with A and C

Thank goodness we get to choose our friends.

My mother once remarked that one of the things that she liked about my
father's family was that even thought they didn't seem terribly close to
one another, they never, ever were mad at each other.

C has a self-esteem problem. Either that, or the last one should have
been "D" :)

It looks like A is the outcast.

There are 4 sibs in my family. My brother, sister and I all think the
3rd sister is a nitwit and a lunatic. We avoid her whenever we can.

My sister and I get along really well now, but we didn't in college. Age
mellowed us, but also our nearness in age helped us. I'm 3 months older than
she is, I'm adopted.

Man, I had the crappy upbringing but I sure lucked out
in the sibling department. I have three terrific brothers.
