Geeze - what sort of place do you live in that you would only see a spider
a year? Plenty of spiders in my yard, and occasionally making their way
into my house. The majority of them are fairly harmless (huntsmen, garden
spiders, house spiders, daddy long legs, etc.) but we do find redbacks in
the yard and garage. I've not seen any funnelwebs at my place, but this is
supposed to be a bad year for them, and there was a piece in the local
paper about sightings in Penrith.

I certainly wouldn't put on my gardening gloves, or shoes/boots left in the
laundry, without checking for tenants <g>.

Heh ... I remember clearly the day I learned of huntsmen spiders ...
for whatever reason I'd *****ed about a certain someone leaving ****
in the car visor, pull it down and it would fall on me. Quite annoying.
One of your countrymen said he did that, pulled down the visor ...
and a huge huntsmen spider landed on him. That was enough for me.

***** to the DEA about their wonderful efforts at solving the drug trade in
front of your kids schools. If you can't do that, don't argue gun law.

Where do the farmers keep their guns there?

Me too!

They had a episode on one of those nature programs about Australian
spiders. One segment related how a spider caused a woman to have a
near fatal accident. It musta been one of those huntsmen thingie s
because it was freakin' huge. She was driving in her car while
wearing a pair of mid-thigh length shorts. The spider jumped up on
her thigh ...and was as big as her whole thigh!!.... and when she
freaked and tried to knock it off she lost control of her car and
crashed. The announcer said if she'd known how harmless it was, she
wouldn't have panicked. Yeah, right!

Sorry mates, but you'll just have to do without a visit from ol'
notbob. ;)

LOL - sorry, Michael, I read the above and all I could think was, "Miss
Scarlett?"

I tried to explain that she doesn't have wings...she just glared at me and
didn't talk to me for a few hours.

This is the same cat that after she's played a mouse to death seems to think
I can "fix" it.

Nah...those are mid sized bats. Micro bats are the Honduran white bats,
wing span of about 3 inches, body length about 1 inch.

Farmers would keep their guns in their homes.

Saying guns can't be kept in the house isn't quite accurate. It's more that
the laws are quite strict, and it's not all that easy to get a license. The
gun laws differ from state to state, but as far as I'm aware, at least in
NSW, it's possible for licensed gun owners to keep guns on their premises,
but there are strict storage requirements.
