OT: SMH: Aussie cyclists may get 'head start'

<Vaguely off topic>

Aha! Now the first image on that particular website
(http://tinyurl.com/ek3fr) reminds me that we have a potential problem
on one of our bike lanes (State Circle cnr Flynn Drive). Like in the
picture this particular intersection has a left turning "guide" line for
vehicles which crosses the bike lane. I am dead certain that many
drivers see this as a 'give way' line for bikes and I invariably see
drivers turn left in front of cyclists going straight ahead at this
intersection. I'm concerned I'll see a deadly accident there one day.
Luckily I turn left at the intersection, so I'm not likely to T-bone
anyone. Am I reading too much into this or is this really a potential
death trap?? Comments?
