Overcoming - Bjarne Riis/CSC fanfilm, but is there a bike race in there somewhere?

I saw Overcoming last week - and while I enjoyed the closeups of the
back of Bjarne's head while his soignuir (sp?) told him to be a little
more open, and he spent a lot of time talking about how he wanted to do
things differently and that running a team was difficult (really?!), I
was puzzled at the end when trying to work out just what it was that he
was doing differently with his team? Is CSC the only team that has a
boot camp thing? Was that it? What was Sastre getting upset about
with the power meter training? Sure, he was upset, but why?

Most of the brief talks by the riders involved claimed that they loved
the team (it's paying their wage, they would say that, everyone does
while they're in a team), but no mention was made of Tyler's not so
happy split at the end of 03 claiming lack of support (a pretty big
deal, I reckon).

Did anyone else manage to work out why CSC helped Armstrong chase down
Ullrich in the mountains? Was it just the Basso's mother cancer link?
30 seconds of footage of a rider refusing to answer a question didn't
really explain the tactic. Was there some deal done? A lot of
significant things happened in the '04 tour that had CSC and US Postal
doing a lot of working together, but I didn't really see any
explanation except for "common interests". *duh* they both want to win
the tour ...

Did the film explain why it was in CSC's interests to work with US
Postal? Just exactly why did Bruyneel call Riis on the crosswind stage
and warn them that US Postal was going to split the bunch up? It's
mentioned, but never explained. What was the significance of Lance's
looking into the CSC car on the Alpe de Huez ITT? Is Lance *really*
Darth Vader? :)

I'll probably buy the DVD just to have it, but it's nothing like as
good a film as Hollentour, which told rider's stories with some depth
and detail and explained a bit about the racing. If I hadn't seen the
'04 tour as close to live as you can get from Oz I'd have been
mystified by the tactical implications of what went on.

Not sure if that was actually it, but yep, until recently CSC was the only team to be bootcamped. Now they are all the rage. One team (it was CSC I think - happy to be corrected) even had a Significant Others bootcamp this year, to show the women what their men go through, and to also help make them CSC wives and partners. Report on cyclingnews.com

As for all that US Postal:CSC stuff, surely there was some form of collusion,er brotherly motivation, love & mutual respect happening there?? (but why???)
