I have been doing this thing ever since I had to ride home on one pedal.
I used a sharp pointed awl and poked a small hole in the plastic end cap on my pedals. I then took a needle point greese gun full of synthetic greese and I pump each pedal full, holding the needle tip tight to my hole I made.
The greese keeps dirt out and lubes as well.
I thought I was alone here till I read a thing in the last issue of Mountain Bike on page 98, I see some companies sell em with a greese hole.
