Kid riding to school.

Got home early last night and youngest (7) dortta wanted to go for a ride to the park. Whilst doing the bedtime story later, she asked if she could ride to school today! Woooooooooooohooooooooooooo :D:D:D:D:D
<dad goes goo-ie with pride>
All went well but she wants 'all that cool stuff' that me, mum and eldest dorttasaurus have (ie gloves, ortliebs/rack, etc)
Looks like i shall have to suffer the arduous trip to the LBS soon

How have you gone with small (I mean kid small) gloves. I want some for
the 6yo but last time I looked couldn't find anything small enough.

I'm not surprised. I found some Pearl Izumi Women's Race Gloves. I'm a
size small. The others at Peloton thought I'd bought them for Charlie
(the 3.5 year-old...)

There's not much out there.

no idea on the gloves front. the eldest is a puppy with big paws
(she's already stealing wiff's shoes/clothes. I kid you not!)
so gloves werent such an issue.

I seem to remember a gloves bin with a wide range (of average lookingof gloves) out the front of that apparel place in Black Rock.
Shall check it out sometime...

PS since when did Tam have a 3.5yr old???
I cant keep up...

You'd be thinking 3.5 yrs, but you'd be wrong. Only a few months. I've
inherited him on weekends - or more accurately, Steven has him on
weekends, but I live in the same unit, so I have him on weekends too. I
think of Charlie as a bonus package ;-) although Charlie reckons I'm his
girlfriend.

With Charlie? Neither can I!

they lack a bit in cyclign cred, but my twin 7 yo goils like to wear their bunnings kiddie-sized gardening gloves - they are a pefect fit for little hands and they have a very tough leather palm and fingers that stop all the horrible skin-off hurties that come with the regular "skizzas" (the name they have for tumblin off their bike / scooter). We'll see in th ecoming months if they keep them warm. I have my doubts ... ...

They must breed 'em soft over your way. I used to cycle all year round
without gloves (only got my first pair when I was in my 20s), and that was
through Scottish winters!

Try your local dirtbike shop. They have kids as young as 5 competing
in offroad motorcycle events.

Hmmmmmm sounds expensive. Not the gloves, all the other things I can buy
for me. Servicing my own Mbike has saved me so much money through not
having time to browse while picking up the bike after a service.

You've just got to shop around really.
We got some for the 4yo from a not-so LBS in Newcastle.

We've got some Fox girls gloves which are very small. As in a fair bit smaller than an XS.

Fox do a kids version of their Dirtpaw (or one of their full finger MTB
gloves anyway). I think RRP is around $30, and they seem OK. Not roadie
style obviously, but you should be able to convince a 6yr old that they
need d00d gloves.

We bought some pink ones from K-mart which fitted when the girls were about 2yo up to 6yo. They were pretty cheap but they sort of look the part.

Can't remember the brand, but we did get some women's XS mitts off ebay that the 9yo has worn for the last couple of years.

Shops that specialize in BMX gear might be able to help out with long fingered gloves for kids.

Judging from the size of the backpacks I see school kids carry these
days you're going to need the full touring kit, front and rear! Shoot,
might as well just get her a trailer :-D
