  1. Hello, many of us are fairly prompt in complaining about poor service but, in this case, I thought
if fair to pass on my very recent experience of excellent service from Paramo.

I've had a Scala jacket for coming up to 10 years and, apart from a small amount of abrasion damage
around the bottom inside fabric, it has worn well and proved excellent in use. This summer I found
it had lost one of the teeth on the main front zip, which was therefore not usable. I contacted
Paramo who confirmed that it would almost certainly be covered by their lifetime guarantee. A few
weeks ago I sent it to them with a covering note mentioning that a couple of the press studs at the
cuffs were also rather weak when in use.

Within a couple of days I received confirmation that it would be covered and that it would be
returned by November 6th (then about a month away). It was in fact returned within two weeks with
the zip replaced, all press studs on the cuffs, front and pockets replaced and it had been cleaned
and re-proofed. I thought this was excellent service which others might wish to be aware of.

Apart from my wife and I both being very satisfied Paramo customers with a small range of their
products, I have no other connections with Paramo.

Yeah, I found them to be extremely helpful and pleasant - recently acquired a S/H Alta jacket and
they were very happy to send the foam inserts for a backpack. At the same time they provided me with
some rubber straps for the gaiters, which I'd managed to lose! I'm gradually building up my Paramo
collection: Alta jacket & trousers, Windproof jacket & fleece and gaiters. Mark

Though I don't get on with their waterproofs (feel like I'm being baked alive unless it's *very*
cold), I do like their reversible shirts a lot. They're relatively cool and warm according to which
way out they go and I find it works quite well and they're very comfy. I've had positive experience
dealing with the company too (got the first reversible on a "try before you buy" scheme, which also
allowed me to test and reject their 3rd Element jacket without parting with cash: good setup!).

  4. Whilst we're on the topic of good service, I can confirm that mighty-light do honour their lifetime
guarantee on their little halogen torches. I broke mine after many years v. hard use - mainly being
crushed in a pocket of my caving suit. They duly replaced it no bother - my letter confirmed "that
it had not been used by bears or small children" which were the only restrictions they specified,
and they duly sent me a new one. The old one was clearly wrecked through fair wear and tear, but
they were happy to honour their lifetime guarantee. We also broke one of their waterproof instrument
cases - by dropping it down a 60' pitch; smashing it to bits. Again "lifetime guarantee" and got a
new one; no bother. We'd even cut big holes in it for a cable connector.

    So there you go

    Hywel
