Pedaling 'buzz'

switched from 1.95 semi-slicks to a slicker 1.75 running at a slightly higher pressure and
allsorts of bumps and knocks feel more pronounced but I have also recently and the chain and
cassette replaced.

I used to ride a tricked out Suzuki GS1100 bike - 40mm carbs, ported heads, bore & stroked to 1380cc
- the works. Because of all the money I put into reworking both aftermarket and OEM engine
components, the motor was exceptionally smooth and powerfull for it's time (1984).

I had serious maintenance costs with the bike. That and insurance came to better than $300 per
month. One of the things that needed frequent replacement was the chain - I used the power of the
bike so often that even with proper lube & cleaning, I'd wear out the chain every 3,000 miles ($1.74
per link for 108 links every 3 months).

Anyways, what I'm getting to is that I could tell when the chain was wearing out because I would get
a buzz when accelerating hard.

Might be (just might) what's happening to you?

You didn't mention the chainwheel. If cassette and chain are new, a worn chainwheel may be it. Does
it rumble in several gears, or just 1?

In my case, I have a bit of rumble after replacing the chain and chainwheel (fairly new cassette
too). My working theory at this point is perhaps a less than perfect profile on the chainwheel
teeth. I notice it's getting less pronounced (chainwheel "breaking in"?)

Is it most noticeable right after you leave the bumpy roads? Could just be a reaction from your body
from the vibrations from the road you just left.
