Sheesh, I dunno. I think you said it best when you pointed out that nearly all general use platform pedals are cheap and fairly simple affairs... but then again, that's because, they don't have to do much.

You can spend a lot on platform pedals if you go with one of the sets designed for downhill or freeriding, but it's probably not worth it, right? I'm not sure there's much reason to spring for a $60 pair of molded resin freeride platforms when a $10 pair from performancebike will get you to and fro. Maybe these for $33, marked down from $50, if you're comitted to the idea?
