People who hate cyclists...

Just arrived back after a pleasant morning ride down Beach Road to do the Mt Eliza loop.

Unfortunately, I watched about 20 riders sitting by the side of the road in Chelsea changing their tyres after riding through tacks that had been thrown on the road.

What would possess someone to go and get a box of tacks, drive to a place where they know cyclists would be, and spread them on the road? Would they live nearby and be watching with glee?

Our group was then serenaded by a peanut in a van who drove behind us down Olivers Hill leaning on his horn when the lane beside us was free for him to drive on by....

Lovely!

Yeh some jerk threw tacks onto the road durign the junior nationals in QLD last year, even caused a stack un the under 15's race:rolleyes:

Some people are just jerks:mad:

Because they're small-minded turds.

Say, all of a sudden another group was perceived in the meedya spotlight as a out group? Hang on a mo, we've already got several dozen <insert term here>.

IMHO opinion, fk 'em. But on the other hand it would be good if legal recourse was avalaible to whoever caused the damage, get them charged & hopefully get costs awarded. Any surveillance cameras in the area? A long shot I know, but ...

Interesting talkback on 3AW this morning (5/8), with Nick McCallum & John Michael Howson (!?!) Nick was reasonably positive towards cycling issues, Howson, well, he requires a canned laughter track after each of his comments. Should have a mp3 on WoJ soon-ish.

Yep starting to become more frequent lately this sort of thing..... but of course it is usually a sunday when there is no police presence. We rode past as you did the large number of riders fixing tyres.... just morons.... but then again we are lucky I guess we do not ride under any bridges where people can throw rocks from, along Beach Rd anyway.

I had the privilege of being abused by Howson when Darren read out my email:
_____________
You could fit 10 bike into space of 1 car at the local train station if
people got of their ass and rode the 5km to the station instead of driving!
It's the attitude of Howson and earlier callers that are choking this
city to death and they complain about the traffic!
______________

Boy did he go to town on me! Nick then got stuck into him saying it was
ok for him to abuse cyclist, but couldn't take it himself! Heh heh heh

If it's any recompense I got cut off when attempting to explain that the perceived element of risk with cycling was being overplayed. Although I didn't even make it to trying to explain consolidated revenue. Oh well, next time.

For those who didn't hear it, for your dubious listening pleasure:

I don't think so. This is one of the many addresses that the Marty
Wallace stalker freak uses. Sadly I couldn't get the whole
greasmonkey/google groups killfile thing happening at work but it's
blissful reading from home.

The truly amazing thing about this particular nutcase is his
persistance. It's been going on for years. It's kinda funny, like
it's funny watching a peacock attack its own reflection in a mirror
sort of funny, but eventually the peacock gets bored. It'd be
interesting to know what makes this one tick. Obsession is an odd
beast, I guess?
