Personal best commute

This morning I cycled the 2.6 mile route to work at 11.1 mph, which is a
personal best ever. I've only once before managed to get into double
figures, so that's a 10% increase over my previous best. May not be fast by
other people's standards, but it's 20% faster than at the start of the year,
so I'm pleased.

Well done, in cycling you should only ever measure performance against
yourself, and you are obviously improving.

Congrats  - My gf is thinking about cycling for her commute,
mine in long enough to require a change of clothes etc, however hers
would be similar to yours. What are your view on clothing for that kind
of distance??

cheers

Thanks. Now don't laugh, but the 2.6 miles is one of the medium ways round
to work, I actually live just 0.7 miles away. I cycle in my normal work
clothes, wearing a waterproof when it's cold and putting the waterproof in
the pannier in better weather. I have SPD pedals so I wear the Shimano
sandals on the bike and keep a pair of non-bike shoes under the desk.
Sometimes I plan a lunchtime ride so on those days I take a pair of bike
shorts to change into. But generally I'll ride up to 10 miles in whatever I
happen to have on, so long as it isn't a tight skirt.

It has to be said that my work environment is jeans and T shirt, so my usual
blouse and skirt is smarter than most people there.

Unless you're competing at the highest level (TDF)
PB's are the ONLY measure that matters.
