Hi guys - I'm starting a circuit of the country in October and because of the weight of the stuff I need I'm going to buy quite a bit of stuff in Perth after arrival from bonny Scotland. Can you name any particular shops that are fairly central, reasonably-priced and friendly? I need to buy tyres, tubes, tent, sleeping bag etc. I'd also want to buy at shops who would be happy to respond to any needs / emergency supplies or advice that I might need should something happen in the back of beyond, possibly post stuff around the country in advance for me, be good at changing any defective gear without a fuss, and generally support me in that way.
It would be nice to get to know one friendly cycle and camping business that I could rely on to go that extra mile. Website links or e-mail addresses would be great, but not essential.

Lots of well stocked glitzy outdoor adventure type shops around town like Mainpeak , Kathmandu & Mountain Design but they are pretty commercial so I wouldn't expect much touchy feely aftermarket service .
Lots of camping shops in the 'burbs like Ranger Camping .
All of the above should have sites to compare what they can offer to Euro stores.
Concerning bike touring this is the smallest sector of the market in Oz & likewise high-end specialist stuff is hard to find & often imported personally from the likes of St John Street etc.

OK ta, good to know, I've made a note of these and will check out their websites. I'll be bringing a Thorn Raven: .http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/daviddd/DSCF1246.jpg along with me, and I know I'll not get many parts for that in Oz. I intend to bring some specialised parts e.g. spare hub gear cables with me but I'll hopefully be able to get decent 2" or so tyres, thorn-proof tubes etc, chain and such as these are fairly std.
