I have a mid-80s Peugeot PH501 (well, that's the designation, AFAIK).

The RIDE did not change when I changed the carbolite fork to a LOOK carbon fiber fork ...

To me, my Peugeot does NOT ride significantly differently than a COLNAGO that I have, if at all (with "updated" & comparable components on the Peugeot as the Colnago was outfitted with) -- both frames have exactly the same main triangle geometry ... hence, close to comparable (if not identical!?!) rides!

Your Peugeot probably has comparable geometry, too ... ride it as is (presuming the cables/brakes/etc. are properly adjusted) OR upgrade the components if you want to modernize your ride (recommended if you have the extra money in your budget) ...
