He didn’t ride the Giro to save his strengths for the Tour and he couldn’t get on the podium (4th at 8:36 to Froome) and then he was thrown off the Vuelta for holding onto a car. Many riders would love to have a palmars including those results. A win for an Italian in Lombardia is always going to be big home news and any Classic win is something to be proud of, but Nibali is a Grand Tour winner with a win in all three.
