Roadside look back: Now that Ed Hood and Callum MacGregor are back in Sunny Scotland and the final week of the 2015 Tour de France is becoming a distant memory, we asked Ed to give us his thoughts on the French Grand Tour before they are lost. Was it a good Tour Ed? Its that time again where we have to look back at Le Tour and pick out our favourite memories; there are so many but here goes, in no particular order:It was Vacansoleil who started the Moules Fete and when the team folded, management at Quick-Step knew a good thing when they saw one and snaffled the idea. Moules, frites, pils, sunshine, good chat we wouldnt miss it for the world.The first week of Le Tour proved that you dont need huge mountains to have good racing; but the montagnes form a large part of the Tours Legend Bahamontes, Coppi, Gaul, Merckx, Ocaa, Van Impe. . . If you havent been in Les Alpes for a while, you forget how awe inspiring and beautiful they are. Around every corner theres another view which takes your breath away.The French in the rural communities, at least have life better organised than us. The weather helps and so do those lovely, quiet, village squares where no one ever seems to get upset about anything; the answer to most problems is to have another kir and talk about it some more. . .Bikes have changed so much, particularly in the last decade...
