Phonak just confirmed it!

Man, that sucks. Would have been nice to feel good about the tour winner. Now no matter what happens there will always be some mystery surrounding the finish.

I wonder if Greg Lemond is rethinking his earlier statements about Landis.

In a round about way this also makes Armstrong look better since Lemond has been on his case, and then Lemond came out really strong as being pro Landis.

I am in shock. I thought Puerto would weed out the cheats and now this happens. I don't know who or what to believe now.

I really don't know much at all about the testing, but I would assume there is a very small chance that this is just a false positive. They would have wanted to be real quiet and retry the test before releasing the information.

This definately is bad for cycling. And if they're all doing it, it's a shame that Ull and Basso were kicked out. I'd rather have a race with all the best doping cyclists than all the luckiest doping cyclists.

If it's true, I hope the hip surgery is a failure and he is bound to a wheel chair the rest of his life.

Cycling has got to come up with a way to truely test for everything.

You sir, are an idiot.

Simmer now.

If it's true, Landis cheated the world out of a true Tour de France champion.

The team tactics would have been different. He ruins the race for everyone.

Well, after that "miraculous" comeback in the mountains, I kinda figured he got back on the sauce....

Ah, you really don't mean that. It's just the culture of pro sports. When you submerse yourself in a culture you find yourself doing things you never thought you'd do, like stacking prisoners in naked human pyramids or handling rattlesnakes in some backcountry church.

I say this to everyone on the forum: You didn't really think he was clean, did you?

And for those who believed, I feel for you. I really do. This has got to be heartbreaking.

Floyd has been on cortisone injections which can mess up the testosterone/epi level...but this will create a mess beyond belief.
Some riders have a naturally high level thats documented but I dint think Floyd is one.
This is really a mess for cycling.

Ahhhhh..... ****!

Sort of makes sense, though. Test is used largely for recovery, and he did seem to recover from the bonk in an amazing fashion.

All the same, after the Armstrong frame job, I sure wish someone besides LNDD was doing the testing.

after all that talk of the amazing comeback on stage 17, and it's just a big sham. this just strengthens my gut feeling that anyone successful in the grand tours, at least on GC, has to be on drugs.

at least if they ride for phonak.

I'll admit it, I was naive enough to think that what I saw during the Tour this year was something special. So now I feel robbed of that, I wish I hadn't spent all the time glued to the tv. I wish I hadn't become my workplaces offical tour update guy.

I guess we are at the point that all cycling events should be canceled everywhere since there doesn't seem to be anyway to control the cheaters.

Cycling is such an individual sport, if there is any hope of saving it they have to figure out how to ferret out the cheaters.

Agreed. Even IF the B sample comes back ok, or they can convince the board that it was due to his injections, the will always be the black cloud over the "victory".

To hell with watching the "pro's" anymore, I'm just going to enjoy riding my bike....

I agree, would Test B clearing him really be any better or worse than just having him fail and lose his title.

No matter what there's gonna be endless speculation about what did happen and what should have happened.

For all the talk about strategy mistakes letting Floyd go (which most riders said they didn't let him go so much as they couldn't come close to keeping up), if Pereiro is the winner how bad will it be to see a rider win just because they allowed him to get a 30 minute breakaway.
