Julich has won before, but I think Schleck is the strongest rider CSC has at the moment.

My darkhorse pick is Cadel Evans.

If a Discovery rider is to win this, I think Popovych is a better pick than Leipheimer.

Yes, very perceptive.

Contador did a great race. He was almost extra-terrestiral. He blew away the field in the end. Looks like a strong candidate for the next great Grand Tour champion. Even at this stage he looks like he could finish top 10 in the tour.

He claims he's going to the Giro to help Basso. And then ride the Tour. What a team DSC will have there.

Or is is it possible Basso won't target the Tour, just in case he doesnt get invited?

That could be a possibility. If he is not invited, Discovery should have a pretty good GT squad there to contest the podium. Doesn't it go against common thought in cycling not to burn out a young rider too much before he matures? I would think winning this past week-end and then riding for Basso in Italy...Then the TDF????? Might be too much. Even though his star is rising, so many things could happen before we crown him the next king...
