I was recently involved in a crash and need to get a new bike...
the bike I had was a Pinarello Paris Carbon.
I was very happy with that bike, but I also know Cervelo make some very nice bikes as well.
Would you guys get the paris carbon over a cervelo?

Would you guys get the cervelo R3 SL or the Soloist (not SL)`?

i'm 192cm and weigh 77-78kg

The soloist is a little heavier, about 200grams but made to be more aero_On that note in theory of course it may be the better bike for solo rides. However if your riding in groups and pacing then the slight aero benefit is void and the r3sl being the lighter may be a more logical choice.
Cervelo claims the r3sl as the lightest, stiffest bike in the pro peleton but who knows. I own one its nice and stiff, actually a kinda harsh ride compared to my Raliegh cadent1 with aluminum frame and more sport/touring frame geometry. I attribute the difference in ride to geometry but find it odd that a carbon bike feels more stiff than aluminum.

I know nothing about Pinnerello carbon bikes but the Prince model looks really unique and hot with the odd shape stays and fork design. Its also heavier than the r3sl. Unless you go with a frame that features a integrated seat post the r3sl may still be one of the lightest frames on the market.

Anyone feel free to correct me or add to that. ;)

Personally I would go for a Paris over a Cervelo, but that is one man's opinion in a sea of millions.:D

Yeah I've come to the same conclusion.
The cervelo looks a bit boring next to the paris or prince

I would be curious to know the quality record of both manufacturers. I do believe Pinnerello to be a pretty sincere co. that stands behind their product. I agree the Prince and the Paris are very exciting looking frames and great forks on them too. Along with good paint schemes. I only bought my r3sl for a few reasons. I got it for 1400 dollars less than suggested retail price, it's a wicked light frame, fork combo and the fact that it was in stock in my frame size at my lbs. It was a impulsive buy and had I taken the time I may of bought something else for sure. I definitely would of looking back on it. Good luck.

The Paris is a pure italian bike. beautiful (as the prince) very unique and a high quality frame. but, the Cervelo takes it when it comes to performance. the cervelo has a better geometry for an all day long riding and it is quicker than the prince or paris. i sold my first R3 for the Paris and after 4 months sold the Paris and got a 2008 R3. if you really want a semi comfortable bike, fast, and awesome steering you might want to look into the ISAAc impulse. that is the only frame i would replace my R3 with. i am actually considering selling my R3 this week in order to fet the Isaac. so, if you are still in the market, look into the R3 or the Isaac. btw, i am about 5'11'' and 185 lbs.

can you elaborate?

Also, I have the choice between the R3 SL and the regular SLC (and also the white R3) which is the better choice?

The R3 is very reactive to rider's input. you can sit on a group ride right in the middle of the group and the moment you step on the pedals the bike just jumps forward. also, when you ride the R3, you feel you are integrated with the bike as one unit. with the Paris, it feels like you are in a double decker bus, you feel on top of the bike. you can ride the R3 for 50 or 100 miles and it will not beat you up.

now, i woudl not pay the extra money for the SLC-SL. i think the SLC is the perfect the way it is and i would spend the extra money on a nice pair of wheels. one thing is that both the SLC and SLC-Sl will not be as forgiving as the R3 after 60 miles or so. at least in my experience.

I like the R3 in white. is the R3-SL worth the extra dough? not on my book. i will just spend the extra $ in wheels like i said above.

But, now, there is the Isaac Impulse. i rode one last saturday and it felt just like the R3, but, i felt that when climbing, it responded a litttle quicker than the R3. Descending is where the Issac takes the R3. the Isaac has a 1 1/4 bottom head tube and a higher head tube also (174mm for the 55.5). these 2 combined made the isaac more secure when coming down hills.

remember, we are comparing top of the line frames here. the fact that the isaac descents better does not make the R3 a bad frame choice.
