I've had a pair of Tioga Surefoot MXPro platforms for about two years. they're light very very
grippy and still work fine despite most of the anodizing being smashed off on rocks, so they're
pretty strong. The spikes are very sharp, you need shin guards or you'll end up getting well
scuffed. I removed the outside pins when I gouged my ankle to the bone.

Well, this gives me an excuse to write a UR (ER)*:

I replaced my Shimano PD545's with Crank Brothers' Mallet C.

Wow.

OK, so I haven't ridden them much, and they're a little tight yet. They are bigger, offer a better
platform, easier to get into, and have half the weight of the PD545s. Don't get me wrong - I think
the 545s were pretty nice. I like the adjustable tension - something the Mallets don't have. But
clipping out and just using the platforms is very easy. And the pedals were on sale at the time -
25% off. So, I'd give them a big thumbs up. This is from a guy that'll ride a trail unclipped the
whole way, then ride it again clipped in the very next time. I like to be able to just jump on the
bike and ride it, just for the sake of riding. But I still like to be able to clip in. Downsides?
Expensive, compared to just plain ol' platforms. Clipping out takes conscious effort.

Of course, if anyone wants a set of barely-used PD545's, e-mail me and I'll work a deal.
