When I had my (minor) MI a year ago, I was told the data supports using Plavix for about three
months, but that I might as well stay on it indefinitely, almost like a vitamin, even though studies
haven't been done to measure whether this helps over the long run.
So I figured, what the heck, I have insurance and if there's a chance it'll help, why not. And I've
had no side effects from it.
But my cardiologist is telling me to get off it now (after a year). Why (in the absence of side
effects)? Any harm in staying on it? Is there any risk that it'll become less effective when I
really need it (like with antibiotics)?
Advice would be appreciated! Thank you.
