Polar CS100 Failure

The middle line of my CS100 has gone blank.
This means there's no current speed displayed
while riding and I can't read any data back at
the end of the ride.

Of course, it's now a few months out of warranty.

Tried taking the battery out but I fear there is a
hardware fault inside the device.

Anyone else had this happen?
