Polishing a turd - my 20$ 12 speed schwinn traveler

New entry = I am spending 20 bucks on trueing the wheels and replacing one spoke. Another 15 on computer harness. 15 on front --cheap - tire.

Total 50 freaking dollars. but I have a 10 speed :D!!!!!

Now I have to learn to shift without giving the chain slapping from hell:eek:

These old Schwinns are really cool.
Actually, I like the bikes, but I can't abide the old steel rims. If you can get some alloy rims for it, you'll have a really decent bike. They can really take the punishment.

I've got an old Raleigh 3 speed, but I rarely ride it because of the rims. It's rough to stop on a wet day.

I have another bike that is my "reasonable" bike - aka modern, fast, reliable, etc.

The schwinn is my money pit .... a small one but nevertheless.

So fall is coming around the corner, so all the funds alocation will go into - you guessed - SKIING!!!

To think that I started riding so to be in decent skiing shape ... now I am looking at skiing so to be in good riding shape!! :D

Oh that's funny. I love cheap bikes. They are kind of like having a beater car. Sometimes they are so broken in you feel one with them. Easy to relate to and you don't worry about them as if you spent a ton of money on them.
