  1. Hi folks,

I've started cycling again, and I haven't been cycling since I was in my teens. I've got almost everything I need for my bike, but I'm having trouble with a helmet. The issue seems to be finding a men's helmet with a ponytail port. (I have quite long hair) It seems all of the helmets I see with ponytail ports are designed for women. The one I saw for men was really expensive. (a Giro over $200 I believe)

I'm looking to spend up to/about $100 on a helmet since looks aren't critical. (I won't have the clothing to match a fancy helmet anyway, but I don't want something that looks ridiculous either)

So does anyone know what brands/models for men come with ponytail ports? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Savant

Bell Phi, not sure if it's made, but a lot of them floating around in stock and only a few years old. I don't know what you mean by pony tail port, but it's fit system and my onytail dont get caught in each other. I sometimes have my hair a little lower for cycling.

Phi was top of the line in 2002 if I'm not mistaken, vents pretty good and you can usually find em for $40-$60 nashbar, performancebike, etc.

    good luck!

  3. I guess most guys tend to opt for less hair since it means less drag. Since I'm not in this to set any speed records, 😉 I'm just looking to get a helmet that fits properly. Right now the helmet I have doesn't fit properly, and I often find myself going without it since I can't get it on comfortably. Obviously this is less than ideal, but I woulod rather find a helmet with a ponytail port (opening for a ponytail) or some other manner to allow me to wear the helmet without the issue of the ponytail upsetting the fit. (which renders the whole point of wearing a helmet pretty useless)

    I'm still looking...
