    This is an old family recipe. There are many variations of
    it. This is my favorite. Portuguese Kale Soup

    2 lbs kale deveined and coarsely chopped
    1/2 lb chourico{preferably Portuguse but can use Spanish} 14
    0z can kidney beans
    2/4 cup salt pork diced. 1 cup potatoes cubed 1 medium onion
    diced 1 tsp salt
    3/2 tsp black pepper 6 cups water

    Saute salt pork and onions. Drain fat. Add remaining
    ingredients. Bring to boil and simmer covered for 1 hour.
    Smash some of the potatoes to thicken soup.
