There are a few leftovers. We gave all the turkey away. Kept some of the
ham. Actually, the fridge is kind of bare. What I do have left is ham <by
my own design>. Steven is working all weekend so I'll make my infamous ham
and mac 'n cheese bake. Before ya'll get started I'm not using my beloved
Kraft boxed stuff.

I'll boil elbows
dice the ham and add a cheese sauce <made with my own 2 hands and cheddar>
I'm going to put some green onion in it

Bake around 350 for an hour but check every 30 minutes.

I have a gallon of turkey stock but I'll freeze it.

Gawd, there isn't even any green bean casserole left. I ate most of it
last night. The kitchen is filling up. The damned drains in both sinks
clogged. We have tried everything but a plumber is coming tomorrow.
Steven called one he *knows* which means the plumber will not. Until then,
the kitchen sits.

Michael <- wants oysters today but too lazy to go out for them

Are you talking about a double sink? Try stopping up one side with
a ... sink thing ... and use that air drain cleaner on the other side. I
think CLR makes it.

We have used all of it. We even dunked drain degreaser. Nothing works.
I'm still doing the Mac 'N Cheese.

I've got plenty of leftovers (except I ate all the acorn squash) but I'm
going to make spaghetti tonight. Might as well try out that free sample of
sauce I got. If not that, simply tossed with olive oil and/or butter and
some dried herbs... should suffice :)

I'll probably make a couple of (mashed) potato pancakes tomorrow. I'm
trying to concoct something to do with the nasty canned cranberry
sauce that I buy for those few who like it. My homemade stuff shall

Combine the "nasty canned cranberry sauce" with fresh apples and bake and
in pie.

My hero! Deeeeeeelightful idea. I shall go to the store manana and
pick up a few Grannies (Smith apples <g>) for the pie. Believe it or
don't, I'm also going to use lard in my crust **for the first time**.
All this talk of transfats in Crisco (vegetable shortening) has given
me license to do so. <G>

Guess what day of the year is the busiest for plumbers?

Yup. Black Friday.

Try out the no-fail pastry recipe on the lard box...the one using the egg
and vinegar. It is nice.

Will give it a shot. Have put neither egg nor vinegar in my pastry
before. I'm looking forward to the experiment. What do you think is
the benefit/effect?

I find it makes a tender flaky pastry. The egg makes it tender and the
vinegar makes it flaky. Or I have that backwards.

I made tamales. Masa (lard, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt),
smoked turkey, jalapenos, and cheese. And when I say "I made tamales"
I mean that Eric, Jaime, Philippe, Teri and I made tamales.

We also choped some jalapenos and mixed them with the lefrover
cranberry orange relish D made for Thursday. It was good on the
tamales. (This is a hint about what to do with that nasty canned
stuff you're stuck with.)

A friend of mine has that recipe from her grandmother. Supposedly it
helps the crust "keep" longer. I'd never heard of it myself, but I've
had several of her pies now and they taste just fine.
