so, does it really look like small white pearl-shaped thingies? Do they
dissolve easily, or do they require, for example, stirring over heat for a
while?

Sorry to say that I don't know. I'm in the US and as far as I know they
aren't sold here. I would have to assume that they work much like the
potato flakes or potato buds that are sold in the US. I get the impression
that they are fairly "instant".

Yo Wayne,

You can get the potato pearls right here in balmy Arizona.
The Mormon Welfare CO-OP gives away potatoes in the pearled
form in sealed #10 cans, I got to try a spare can (I'm not
Mormon, just had a friend that was cleaning out their
cupboards).

They dissolve just as quick as flaked dried potatoes and
taste just fine. They do look a bit funky as they have a
yellow appearance.

The Mormons love to stockpile stuff for Armegeddon and this
is one of their staples along with rice and wheat. (Yep,
they put both of those in the big #10 cans as well.) At
least we don't have to worry about them congregating at the
stadium waiting for a handout at the next national disaster.
