  1. I've got a pretty nice flat bar road bike (Avanti Blade Pro). In order to increase the mechanical efficiency and design integrity of the precision machine (ie to bling it up) I bought an Ultegra crankset from ebay. I took my bike in to have one of its free services and at the same time asked them to put on the crankset. I expected to pay maybe $25 when I picked it up but they had done the work for free as part of the service.

Considering I hadn't bought the crankset from them, I consider that great service. So I can recommend Fitzroy Cycles Carnegie: great LBS.

  2. i'm sure they're still way ahead 🙂 -- their bikes ain't cheap

even so, I guess it's a nice gesture coz they obviously could've easily charged you, but, checking the bottom bracket after removing the cranks may have already been included in the service

Old Bill at that shop is a funny old grump🙂

The other older guy, in his 40s (at least) -- fit looking, a bit bald; about 5'11' -- is a good guy. He used to work at Gran Prix

Actually I bought the bike in the 2005 runouts September last year - $2300 reduced to $1750, so I was pretty happy.
