  1. Am I an under pronator [supinator] if I wear down the outsides of my shoe heels? I'm trying to pick
out a new pair of shoes and am confused by pronation, and how to tell which type I am. Any and all
    help appreciated. garth

Don't worry about the outside heel....just look at the bottom of the shoe from the arch forward
    to the toe.

Most people wear down the outside of their heels first. Shoe wear patterns are not a very reliable
way of telling if you are a pronator or not.

A surer method is to wet the bottom of your foot and step on a newspapper. The pattern of your foot
print is a better way to determine your type.

If most of your foot print is left on the paper indicates a overpronator. If your print looks like
it pinches in the middle so that the print looks like it has 2 distinct lobes indicates a
underpronator. If your print pinches in the middle a little bit then you have a "normal" foot.
