  1. Prune Nut Bread

    12 oz. pkg. pitted prunes, soaked overnight in enough water
    to cover 1 3/4 cup sugar
    3/4 cup margarine 1 tsp. cinnamon
    4/2 tsp. (each) cloves, nutmeg 1 tsp. salt 4 cup sifted
    flour 2 eggs 2 tsp. baking soda 1 cup black walnuts,
    coarsely chopped

    Drain, reserving 2 cups liquid. Chop prunes then cook with 2
    cups liquid, sugar, margarine, spices and salt for 5
    minutes; cool completely. Sift flour and soda; add
    alternately with beaten eggs to cooled prune mixture. Bake
    in 2 well greased bread pans for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
