  1. Do you automatically become a member of a DA when joining
the CTC or are the memberships separate?

CTC organises by District Associations. You are a member of
CTC, and if you want to go on a ride you look to your local
DA to provide one. RTR reps also attach to DAs, because
Right to Ride work is mainly local campaigning. As a CTC
member you can be elected as an officer of your local DA (or
another one, but why would you want to?).

There is no "membership" of a DA.

That's my understanding of it, anyway.

    Or organise one yourself ;-)

Because the local DA may not hold events in your area and
the nearest active group may be a lot closer.

*My* DA's rides mainly start in a location which would
require me doing a 45 mile round trip in addition to the
ride, while a nearer one would mean having to cover only
    half that.
